Annual Ladies Tea

Three hundred women filled the Student Center for the Annual CLC Ladies Tea. Ladies adorned in beautiful hats, accompanied with their favorite tea cup, met together for an evening of fun and fellowship.
Each table was exquisitely decorated with a delightful array of tea sandwiches, mini quiche, and fresh fruits. A buzz engulfed the room as people met old and new friends. Always a highlight to the Tea, and interspersed throughout the evening, gorgeous door prizes were given away.
We were blessed by the ministry of the Hands of A Servant. This is a young women’s group that uses sign language to interpret songs. This group welcomed the presence of the Lord. Sis. Stephanie Johnson, from Turlock, California, followed with her beautiful, anointed singing.
The women were thrilled to have Sis. Janice Ivy Smith as the guest speaker for the evening. Sis. Smith read Proverbs 31:30, “Favour is deceitful, and beauty is vain: but a woman that feareth the Lord, she shall be praised.” She used a quote by famous perfume creator, Estee Lauder that states, “Every woman is beautiful.” Sis. Smith explained that beauty is not judged by the outside, but the inside. Beauty is not lasting and eventually fades and ‘rides off into the sunset.’ Regardless of age, every woman is beautiful to God. He has uniquely formed each of us. She referred to Titus 2, where it charges the older women to teach the younger and she encouraged the younger women to look to older women as Christian examples.
Sis. Smith reminded us that the Bible is our greatest possession. She suggested that we keep one in every room of the house. Our second greatest possession is prayer and she instructed us to intensify our prayer life every day. Her final challenge to the ladies was to go to the house of worship at every opportunity.
